About the Ford Mustang

The Ford Mustang is an icon - hard stop. Need proof? The entire “pony car” segment is named after it. It was originally designed to give you the most performance for your dollar and today it still delivers on this promise. The Mustang blends the classic elements that made it such a hit in the first place with modern technology and styling. It’s even still available with V8 power and the Coyote V8 is an exceptionally good example of the breed. The interior is inspired by fighter jet cockpits and puts that impressive technology front and center. For example, you’ll find a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster behind the wheel that is fully customizable. Next to it is a 13.4-inch central touchscreen that powers the SYNC® 4 infotainment system which can provide performance feedback thanks to the Track Apps® feature. Today’s Ford Mustang continues to build on its reputation as one of the globe’s most desirable and adored performance vehicles.

What the Critics Say

"Ultimately, this Mustang is destined to be a future collectible, one of the last old-school muscle cars. For that reason alone, we look forward to buying one and taking this potent pony car for a ride." — Consumer Reports

“Now in its seventh generation, the Mustang continues to appeal to a broad range of buyers. Though its 5.0-liter V8 might be the easy choice, the EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder helps keep the price down and can still be a lot of fun. A much-needed new infotainment system transforms the interior and should help keep the Mustang looking and feeling current for years to come.” – Edmunds

What’s New for 2026

To celebrate Mustang models of the past, the 2026 Ford Mustang features several new appearance packages for the new model year. Known as the FX Appearance Package, this collection of striking features pays homage to the Fox-body era of the Mustang with unique appointments for both the interior and exterior. Contained within this package is also a new Performance Package that includes Oxford White wheels inspired by retro Mustang Cobra models. Additional perks include carbon fiber trim from the Mustang Dark Horse, silver and blue contrast stitching, and striking plaid perforated leather seats. Elsewhere in the Mustang lineup, Adriatic Blue Metallic and Orange Fury have been added to the exterior color choice list for 2026 as well.

Ford Mustang Features

Ford Mustang

Unrivaled Performance

Performance has always been a priority for the Ford Mustang and the current model delivers more of this than ever before. The standard 2.3-liter 315 horsepower EcoBoost® is the most powerful base engine ever offered for the car. The available Coyote V8 is the most powerful naturally-aspirated V8 ever offered for the Mustang as well with either 480 or 500 horsepower, depending on whether you opt for the GT or the Dark Horse variant. A 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters comes standard but V8-equipped Mustangs also have an available 6-speed manual with rev matching. Stopping happens pretty quickly in a Mustang these days thanks to standard 12.5-inch front brake rotors with 2-piston calipers. For track-inspired stopping force, 15-inch 2-piece front brake rotors with 6-piston Brembo™ calipers are also available. Finally, since handling is just as important as power for performance, the Mustang provides both flat cornering on the track as well as a soft ride on bumpy roads using its available 3rd-generation MagneRide® Damping System.

Ford Mustang Interior

Technologically Advanced

Gone are the days when all it took to make a great performance car was a big engine. Today, the Mustang leads the pack because of the technology that Ford incorporates to make all of that horsepower usable. Thanks to the Track Apps® function found on the 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, you can access information readouts about things like lateral g-force, acceleration, or lap and quarter-mile times. It is also where you control features like the digital line-lock and launch control. Next to this is the 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster which can be customized in a variety of ways to suit the driver. It even has a mode that mimics the look of the gauges in the old Fox-Body Mustangs of the 80s and early 90s. Meanwhile, the MagneRide® Damping System adjusts the suspension up to 1,000 times per second, making sure that you get the stability you need during fast cornering but also the soft ride you want while driving on bumpy roads. Finally, Mustang owners also get the advanced SYNC® 4 system - an intuitive and responsive system that comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Designed for Performance

The Ford Mustang caused a stir when it first debuted. Much of this was because of the awesome performance it offered but it wasn’t “all go” in an ugly package - it also looked fantastic. Today, the Mustang continues that tradition by mixing classic design elements with the latest in technology and design. For example, the taillights still use the iconic sequential turn signals but are now LEDs. Although the overall shape of the body is instantly recognizable as a Mustang, the current generation has the lowest drag coefficient of any Mustang ever. The interior layout is inspired by fighter jets, with controls that are easily usable from the driver’s seat. And speaking of seats, RECARO® Micro/Suede Sport Seats are available along with other interior niceties like Ambient Lighting with MyColor® and a 12-speaker B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen®. There are quite a few exterior configuration options including stripes and hood graphics. To top it all off, those monster brake calipers are available in three different colors as well.
