About the Ford Mustang

The Ford Mustang is an icon - hard stop. Need proof? The entire “pony car” segment is named after it. It was originally designed to give you the most performance for your dollar, and today it still delivers on this promise. The Mustang blends the classic elements that made it such a hit in the first place with modern technology and styling. It’s even still available with V8 power, and the Coyote V8 is an exceptionally good example of the breed. The interior is inspired by fighter jet cockpits, and puts that impressive technology front and center. For example, you’ll find a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster behind the wheel that is fully customizable, and next to it is a 13.4-inch central touchscreen that powers the SYNC® 4 infotainment system which can provide performance feedback, thanks to the Track Apps® feature. The Mustang was completely redesigned for 2024, and was given more power as well as a new look and even more of the tech that gives the Mustang such an edge over the competition.

What the Critics Say

"Ultimately, this Mustang is destined to be a future collectible, one of the last old-school muscle cars. For that reason alone, we look forward to buying one and taking this potent pony car for a ride." — Consumer Reports

"Not to be overlooked amid all the V8-performance drama, the standard Mustang gets a reworked turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder for the 2024 model year. It delivers 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, making it the most standard horsepower ever offered in a Mustang." — Edmunds

What’s New for 2024

2024 brought a total redesign to the Mustang, ushering in the nameplate’s 7th generation, and it brings more of everything you love about the Mustang. Starting with the powertrain, the base 2.3-liter engine was boosted by another 5 horsepower, up to 315, the most base horsepower of any Mustang ever. Next, the GT received another 30 horsepower, taking it up to 480. But that’s not it, there is also a new trim, the Dark Horse. The Dark Horse combines 500 horsepower with all of the performance bells and whistles offered for the Mustang, including the absolutely gigantic Brembo™ brakes with 6-piston calipers. The interior has been redesigned as well, and big screens dominate the dash. This is partly because of all the high-tech wizardry now infused in the Mustang, making it easier to monitor and control via the 13.4-inch central touchscreen. There’s also a seriously impressive premium stereo, and more space in the back seat and trunk than you would probably expect.

Ford Mustang

Unrivaled Performance

Performance has always been a priority for the Mustang, and the current model delivers more of this than ever before. The standard 2.3-liter, 315 horsepower EcoBoost® is the most powerful base engine ever offered for the car. The available Coyote V8 is the most powerful naturally-aspirated V8 ever offered for the Mustang as well, with either 480 or 500 horsepower, depending on whether you opt for the GT or the Dark Horse variant. A 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters comes standard, but V8-equipped Mustangs also have an available 6-speed manual with rev matching. Stopping happens pretty quickly in a Mustang these days, thanks to standard 320 mm (12.5") front brake rotors with 2-piston calipers, or for track-inspired stopping force, 390 mm (15") 2-piece front brake rotors with 6-piston Brembo™ calipers. Finally, since handling is just as important as power for performance, the Mustang provides both flat cornering on the track as well as a soft ride on bumpy roads, thanks to the available 3rd-generation MagneRide® Damping System.

Ford Mustang Interior

Technologically Advanced

Gone are the days when all it took to make a great performance car was a big engine. Today, the Mustang leads the pack because of the technology that Ford incorporates to make all of that horsepower usable. Thanks to the Track Apps® function found on the 13.4-inch infotainment touch screen, you can access information readouts about things like lateral g-force, acceleration, or lap and quarter-mile times. It is also where you control features like the digital line-lock and launch control. Next to this is the 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster, which can be customized in a variety of ways to suit the driver.. It even has a mode that mimics the look of the gauges in the old Fox-Body Mustangs of the 80s and early 90s. Meanwhile, the MagneRide® Damping System adjusts the suspension up to 1,000 times per second, making sure that you get the stability you need during fast cornering, but also the soft ride you want while driving on bumpy roads. Finally, Mustang owners also get the advanced SYNC® 4 - an intuitive and responsive system that comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Designed For Performance

The Mustang caused a stir when it first debuted. Much of this was because of the awesome performance it offered, but it wasn’t “all go” in an ugly package - it also looked fantastic. Today the 2024 Mustang continues that tradition by mixing classic design elements with the latest in technology and design. For example, the taillights still use the iconic sequential turn signals, but are now LEDs. And although the overall shape of the body is instantly recognizable as a Mustang, the current generation has the lowest drag coefficient of any Mustang ever. The interior layout is inspired by fighter jets, with controls that are easily usable from the driver’s seat. And speaking of seats, RECARO® Micro/Suede Sport Seats are available, along with other interior niceties like Ambient Lighting with MyColor®, or a 12-speaker B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen®. There are quite a few exterior configuration options too, including stripes and hood graphics. And oh yeah… those monster brake calipers are available in three different colors as well.
