About the Ford F-150 Lightning

It’s definitely not a coincidence that the Ford F-150 has remained America’s best-selling pickup for over four decades. Now for the first time in its storied history, the F-150 Lightning marks the beginning of the all-electric future for this legendary truck. Following the principles of Built Ford Tough™, the F-150 Lightning is proof that going electric doesn’t mean making compromises on the work-ready capability and dependability that’s made it a hit with truck buyers. Drivers have their choice of either a standard or extended-range battery pack, capable of delivering up to an EPA-estimated 320 miles of targeted range. Its high-strength steel frame along with a military-grade aluminum-alloy body and bed delivers a blend of strength and weight savings that help this zero-emission pickup get the job done. Step inside and you’ll find a connected interior that’s equipped with the latest technological innovations from Ford including SYNC® 4A and the Ford Co-Pilot360™ 2.0 suite of driver-assistive safety features. These outstanding connectivity features help your Ford F-150 Lightning evolve with you, over time.

What the Critics Say

“Riding on a new EV platform, with the latest electrical architecture and fourth-generation electronics, the F-150 Lightning becomes the smartest and most connected truck in Ford's lineup, offering a new wealth of features and apps, along with a giant 15.5-inch touchscreen to access many of them.” — MotorTrend

“Showing off its raw grunt, my test driver took the Lightning up a 25% grade, which doesn't sound that steep until you see it filling the windshield. With 3 tons in tow, the truck had no trouble tackling this rather daunting hill, easily putting it in the rearview mirror, all while emitting nothing more than a whirr.” — Roadshow by CNET

What’s New for 2023

After debuting last year, the Ford F-150 Lightning returns for 2023 with a handful of key updates that are worth highlighting. First, the standard range battery capacity has been expanded from 230 miles to 240 miles for 2023 models. Also new this year is a clever Pro Trailer Hitch Assist feature that helps simplify hitching up to your trailer by automatically controlling steering, throttle, and brake inputs. Pro Trailer Hitch Assist is available on Pro, XLT, and Lariat trims and comes standard with the Tow Technology Package.

Ford F-150 Lightning Performance

Electrifying Power

No matter if your truck is used for work or play, the Ford F-150 Lightning transforms the way you think of performance and capability. Not merely a gimmick or display piece, the Lightning features an all-electric powertrain that’s been engineered to the same uncompromising standards as the rest of the F-150 lineup. Infused with Built Ford Tough™ principles, drivers have their choice of a Standard-Range Battery (426 HP / 775 LB-FT TQ) or an Extended-Range Battery (563 HP / 775 LB-FT TQ) paired with a standard four-wheel drive system. A targeted 10,000-pound max towing capacity and 2,000-pound max payload capacity help illustrate how going electric doesn’t mean making any sacrifices on capability. This dual eMotor powertrain also features selectable drive modes to customize drive characteristics along with an anticipated 0 to 60 time in the mid-4-second range. Helping you work both smarter and harder - the Ford F-150 Lightning is also available with cutting-edge tech features including Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, Smart Hitch, and onboard scales that help you calculate payload.
